My enthusiasm for Klout has definitely waned. The score seems to bear little relation to, well, anything really. I disconnected everything except Twitter so that I could analyze what relation, if any, the score had to my Twitter activity. I would expect to see a steady gain that reflected what I’m doing on Twitter, but instead I get a bouncy ball.
I liked the idea of having a single number that showed how well I was doing with social networking. But it’s too easy to game the system if it’s transparent, and it’s frustrating if it’s not. The perks and +Ks and all the rest are pretty meaningless.
Conclusion: meh. I’m going to go play with StumbleUpon. I hear that’s pretty useful.
